PRAISING THE SPIRIT
Hands out stretched, reaching for the sky, the Shaman gives thanks and praise for all things sacred. His song is of joy and glory, to the Creator, words of honor and reverence. His melodious voice echoes in the canyons.
Warm shades of rust and earth tone leathers are draped over his shoulders. His headdress is deer antlers and a fox face. Rich russet colored Tibetan lamb and fox furs keep him warm on his journey.
His fringed leather has been painstakingly twisted and painted with washes of turquoise color and is adorned with antique brass beads and cones. His medicine bag filled with sacred pottery shards, healing herbs and sage.
Precious turquoise nuggets, animal fetishes and antique glass beads are draped across his chest. symbols of the sacred creatures of this earth. He wears a bone breast plate, hand beaded loomwork and a turn of the century coral and turquoise necklace.
Paying homage to the Creator, this sculpture by Misha embodies the passion and beliefs of the native people. Convictions and knowledge that all life is intertwined, from the smallest grain of sand to the creatures that walk the earth. All is sacred.
